Large quantity of goats, sheep meat stolen from St. Catherine farm
Thieves early Thursday morning made off with a large quantity of goat and sheep meat from a St. Catherine farm after they invaded the property and slaughtered the animals. The incident occurred in an area known as Grove Farm which is adjacent to Spring Village.
The caretaker of the property was ambushed by ten armed men close to midnight while on his way back from a nearby shop. He was tied up and left in bushes guarded by one of the men. The others then went to the area where the animals were kept.
Owner of the farm, Wade Reynolds who was called to the property, said he found the remains of the slaughtered animals scattered on the premises.
Other farmers who later gathered at the scene told RJR News they had suffered similar fates from praedial thieves and have considered taking matters into their own hands.
